Citrus County Jail Roster Overview

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office posts a Recent Arrest report, not a searchable jail roster. That report covers arrests from roughly the last 10 days, and the office sends people to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for records older than 30 days. There are no search boxes, dropdowns, or result filters on the sheriff's page beyond the link to the report. So the roster most counties offer simply does not exist here in the same form.

The reason is the operator. The sheriff's own public-records page states that the Citrus County Sheriff's Office does not run the detention facility and directs jail-record requests to CoreCivic. So the county roster will not confirm current custody, housing, or release on its own. It also will not show sentenced state prisoners, federal inmates, or immigration detainees. How to Use the Citrus County Inmate Roster

Because the local tool is a report and not a live roster, the search is really a two-step check: scan the recent arrests, then confirm by phone. Have the person's full name ready, and an arrest date if you know it.

1. Open the CCSO Recent Arrest page and click through to the current arrests-and-charges report.
2. Use the browser or PDF find tool to search the report for the last name.
3. Read the entry for the arrest number, date, charge, and bond, knowing it reflects an arrest and not live custody.
4. Call the Citrus County Detention Facility at 352-527-3332 to confirm current custody and ask what can be released by phone.

If the name is not in the recent report, the arrest may be older than the window, or the person may already have moved into the court process or a state or federal system.

Citrus County Roster Search Fields

The county side has no fielded search form. The real fielded searches in this chain are the state and federal locators. The Florida Department of Corrections Inmate Population Information Search is the one most Citrus families end up using once a person is sentenced, so its fields are worth knowing.

What a Citrus County Inmate Profile Shows

The county's published record is the recent-arrest entry. It lists a fixed set of columns and nothing more. Some rows carry a booking photo, while others read "Photo None." It does not show housing, a court date, or a commissary number, so do not assume the bond figure is the final word on release.

Note: a booking number or county ID is assigned at the jail and is not the same as the arrest report number, so ask the facility for it before sending money.

Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates

The biggest source of failed searches is using the wrong system. Pre-trial and short-sentence inmates stay at the county jail. Sentenced felons move to the state prison system. Federal detainees and immigration holds live in federal locators. This jail makes the federal side especially relevant, because it holds people for the U.S. Marshals Service under contract.

The full set of channels is worth covering, because no single one answers every question. Beyond the roster report and the jail phone line, you can file a public-records request with the sheriff for arrest reports, search the clerk's court system for filed charges, use the federal Bureau of Prisons locator or the ICE detainee locator, and register for custody alerts through Florida VINELink. The official CCSO mobile app carries tips and alerts, but its store listing does not advertise an inmate lookup, so do not count on it for custody.

Citrus County Jail Facilities

One facility holds the entire local inmate population. It is a 760-bed operation split between a 400-bed South Building and a 360-bed North Building. Booking Process in Citrus County

Intake at the Lecanto jail runs around the clock, every day of the week. After an arrest by the sheriff, a city police department, the Florida Highway Patrol, or another agency, a person is transported to the facility and booked in. Intake records identity and property, takes a photo and fingerprints where required, and runs medical and safety screening. The person is then classified for housing in the South or North Building.

The court side moves on its own track. A felony arrest leads to a first appearance, usually by video within 24 hours, where a judge reviews bond and the right to counsel. The clerk receives the initial paperwork from the sheriff's office, builds the court file, and forwards copies to the State Attorney, who decides what charges to file. Visitation Hours and Rules

CoreCivic sets the visitation rules, and they are stricter than a casual drop-in. Inmates get one visit day per week, with up to four people per visit, and each visit runs two hours. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours ahead, and visitors must arrive 30 minutes early. A visitor cannot have been incarcerated in the last 365 days. The published schedule uses a report time before each visit window.

Bring a driver license, state photo ID, or passport. Only photo ID and car keys are allowed in the visitation area, and visitors and their belongings are subject to search.

Minors come with their own rules. A natural parent or legal guardian must bring the child's birth certificate or guardianship papers. A minor who is not with a natural parent needs a birth certificate plus a notarized statement from a natural parent naming the accompanying adult and the inmate. Dress matters too. Visitors need long pants or a dress, skirt, or shorts that reach at least the top of the knee, with sleeves and proper shoes. Bathing suits, tank tops, muscle shirts, and miniskirts are not allowed, and the visitation officer makes the final call on clothing.

How to Contact a Citrus County Inmate

Mail, phone, and tablet access all run through the facility and its vendors. Money orders go to a CoreCivic lockbox addressed with the inmate's name and commissary number, the facility name, and a post office box in Atlanta. Phone and tablet funds run through Securus, which needs the inmate's county ID number. A request from a parent or guardian can stop an inmate from mailing a minor, and the warden honors written no-contact requests.

Legal mail and civil pleadings are treated differently from personal mail, so a no-mail request does not block court documents. If you do not yet have the county ID or commissary number, call the jail before you send anything. Keep the two record types straight as well. Arrest reports and crime reports are sheriff records you can request from the records custodian, while jail custody and booking records come from CoreCivic at the facility line.

Commissary and Inmate Funds

Two vendors handle money. Securus covers phone and tablet funding at 1-800-844-6591 or through its website, and its refund line is separate. Western Union also takes deposits in person, through its Send2Corrections app, online, or by phone, using the inmate's commissary number and the code city listed by the facility. The jail did not publish a per-transaction fee table, so confirm any fee with the vendor.
